Joel Lurie Grishaver
Joel Lurie Grishaver
Joel Lurie Grishaver is a Jewish writer, teacher, cartoonist, and storyteller. He does scholar-in-residence weekends for your whole congregation.
Joel teaches Talmud, Kabbalah, theology, ethics, and Jewish thought to adults. He works with religious school classes, families, parents, and teachers.
A Grishaver weekend is a complete package.
In the past year Joel has…
…been a synagogue scholar-in-residence.
…been a community scholar-in-Residence.
…delivered the Deena Grossman Memorial Lecture at Gratz College.
…been a featured scholar at Limmud UK as well as at Limmud conferences in Istanbul, San Diego, and Atlanta.
…been an invited teacher at the URJ Biennial.
…coordinated the Consortium for the Jewish Family Conference at CAJE 32 and CAJE 33.
…trained teachers in both synagogues and communities.
Joel Grishaver is a hammer for education. He pounds on the anvil of accepted wisdom and works curlicued miracles out of the staid and the commonplace. He combines the tradition of a maggid, the itinerant teller of the redemptive narrative, with the American Jewish story of the entrepreneur.
