Alphabet strips allow students to have visual proximity to the same chart at the front of the room, especially useful for students who have a hard time making the transition from wall to desk. These strips are also a way of allowing students to figure out the sound of a letter they may not be familiar with by reciting the alphabet as they touch each letter until they arrive at the one they didn't know. In the early years especially, teachers can use the strips to help students review the names and sounds of the letters as well as their sequence by calling out a letter or a sound and having students touch the desired letter.
