The creation of humanity, how we are created in the image of God and like in the image of the rest of Creation. How we continue to be connected to Creation and animals specifically

This lesson students will explore the biblical verse of humanities’ Creation, Genesis 1: 26 “LET US MAKE HUMANKIND IN OUR IMAGE, AFTER OUR LIKENESS,” To try to understand what it means to be in the image of both God and the other animals. Students will then explore how they are like animals and what traits they share with animals.

Big Ideas

Humanity was last in Creation. God uses everything that had already been created to help build the human.

Humans have many characteristics that are similar to (other) animals and plants.

Humans can still learn things from animals.
